On Wednesday, August 13, Google clarified that self-custodial crypto wallets are not subject to its new licensing requirements.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thanks for flagging this. To have their apps available in these regions, developers will need to show licenses from relevant financial regulators. For instance, in the EU, developers must apply for a MiCA license in at least one member state.<\/p>\n<p>These requirements go beyond what is mandated by law and could impact decentralized exchanges like Uniswap and PancakeSwap. Still, the exemption for non-custodial wallets was welcomed across the crypto community.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Google Play policy tightens up with regulation<\/h2>\n<p>An increasing number of jurisdictions are requiring crypto exchanges, both centralized and decentralized, to register with regulators. Typically, regulators do not distinguish between the two.<\/p>\n<p>Exchanges and crypto wallets are becoming increasingly ubiquitous, and any broad ban could affect Android device sales.<\/p>\n<p>Some social media users <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/guccitos77\/status\/1955697527983870308\" target=\"_blank\">questioned<\/a> what the new policy means for Solana\u2019s (SOL) recently launched Seeker phones. These phones are based on Android\u2019s open source software, but rely heavily on Google\u2019s suite of services.
