The dinner hosted the top 220 investors of the Trump (TRUMP) coin.<\/p>\n<p>The guest list reportedly included executives from major crypto firms. This includes BitMart, Wintermute, Delphi Digital, CTS International, Hyperithm, Origin, Acheron Trading, Magic Eden, Synthetix, and Kronos.<\/p>\n<p>The event has generated controversy due to Trump\u2019s use of a presidential seal-adorned podium during his address to the crypto investors. According to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/saradorn\/2025\/05\/23\/trump-used-presidential-seal-at-meme-coin-dinner-a-potential-violation-of-federal-law\/\" target=\"_blank\">Forbes<\/a>, legal experts have raised questions about potential violations of federal law. <\/p>\n<p>They specifically cited Section 713 of Title 18 of the United States Code, which prohibits unauthorized use of the presidential seal in ways that could suggest federal endorsement.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<p>The statute carries penalties of up to six months\u2019 imprisonment or fines for violations. This is because the presidential seal is traditionally reserved for official government occasions. Historical precedent shows that previous administrations like those of Obama and Biden avoided using the presidential insignia during private business activities.<\/p>\n<p>White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed conflict-of-interest concerns surrounding the dinner. She emphasized that Trump attended \u201cin his personal time\u201d and clarified that it was \u201cnot a White House dinner\u201d or an official government event.<\/p>\n<p>Still, both Democrats and Republicans are taking issue with the fact that Trump and his family are directly profiting off the Official Trump meme coin and granting exclusive access to the U.S. Executive branch to those who pay up \u2014 which is what Sun did. <\/p>\n<p>Sun, a China-born entrepreneur and billionaire who once avoided the U.S. altogether due to legal scrutiny surrounding Tron, is suddenly attending a VIP dinner hosted by Trump. According <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/currencies\/justin-sun-trump-crypto-dinner-7efd5367\" target=\"_blank\">to<\/a> the Wall Street Journal, he owns some $23 million in Trump\u2019s memecoin.<\/p>\n<p>Other observers are pointing out what they perceive as blatant hypocrisy, considering the Trump family \u2014 for years \u2014 levied accusations against the Biden family over their business dealings. Congressional investigations followed.
