On Monday, August 11, the TON Foundation announced that Coinbase Ventures invested in Toncoin Toncoin (TON).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">TON Foundation is excited to share that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cbventures?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">@cbventures<\/a> is now holding Toncoin. <\/p>\n<p>As one of the most recognized investors in the Web3 space, Coinbase Ventures, joining the growing list of Toncoin holders is a major vote of confidence in the future of The Open Network.<\/p>\n<p>While we can\u2019t\u2026 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wJbzBOSPtQ\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/wJbzBOSPtQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TON \ud83d\udc8e (@ton_blockchain) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ton_blockchain\/status\/1954899899792929054?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">August 11, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>According to the foundation, the move was a \u201cmajor vote of confidence\u201d for The Open Network\u2019s ecosystem. It noted that Coinbase joins other prominent VC firms, including Sequoia, Ribbit, and Benchmark, which also hold Toncoin.<\/p>\n<p>Back in March, TON Foundation secured a $400 million investment from major VC firms. Investors included Sequoia Capital, Ribbit, Paradigm, Benchmark, and Kingsway, who invested through Toncoin.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation emphasized that this was not a traditional funding round in which VCs purchase company shares. Instead, the venture firms bought Toncoin directly, betting on its utility within the TON ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Bloomberg <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-07-24\/ton-foundation-seeking-to-join-crypto-treasury-company-trend-toncoin\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that the TON Foundation is seeking to create a crypto treasury company for Toncoin. The foundation stated that it aims for the company to hold at least $400 million in Toncoin.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TON leverages Telegram for growth<\/h2>\n<p>TON\u2019s close ties to the Telegram messenger remain its main growth driver. According to Statista, Telegram has <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/9640\/telegram\/\" target=\"_blank\">over 1 billion<\/a> monthly active users, which TON hopes to convert into crypto natives.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, TON serves as the utility token for Telegram\u2019s mini-apps, which enable blockchain integration. This has brought several viral clicker apps, including Notcoin, which at one point boasted over 650,000 users. <\/p>\n<p>Hype over viral mini-apps propelled its DeFi TVL to its all-time high in January 2024 of nearly $800 million.
