On Monday, July 28, Metalanet\u2019s Bitcoin holdings <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/arkham\/status\/1949835832569024929\" target=\"_blank\">hit $2 billion<\/a>, according to blockchain analytics platform Arkam Intelligence. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">METAPLANET\u2019S HOLDINGS HIT $2 BILLION OF BITCOIN TODAY<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet\u2019s BTC holdings hit $2B this morning after $46.7M flowed into their wallets from QCP Capital.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet is the largest Japanese corporate holder of Bitcoin \u2013 and they haven\u2019t stopped buying Bitcoin. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1f0kuXA8No\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/1f0kuXA8No<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Arkham (@arkham) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arkham\/status\/1949835832569024929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">July 28, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>This milestone comes after QCP Capital, a key investor in Metaplanet, transferred an additional $46.7 million in BTC to Metaplanet\u2019s wallet. The transfer appears to be part of the latest purchase, amounting to 780 Bitcoin, worth around $92 million, as disclosed in official filings. <\/p>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/contents.xj-storage.jp\/xcontents\/33500\/9806b237\/5fe7\/40c6\/8b61\/22cbfc3ae063\/140120250728521246.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Metaplanet\u2019s filings<\/a>, the company now holds 17,132 Bitcoins, which are worth around $2,021 billion. This showcases a rapid pace of Bitcoin purchases, which are accelerating due to its aggressive strategy. On June 25, Metaplanet\u2019s holdings were at 12,345 BTC, which enabled it to surpass those of Tesla. <\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Metaplanet\u2019s stock struggles despite Bitcoin accumulation<\/h2>\n<p>Metaplanet uses a combination of equity and debt financing to acquire Bitcoin. This mirrors Michael Saylor\u2019s Strategy, which remains the largest corporate BTC holder globally. Still, this aggressive strategy comes with downsides, as seen in Metaplanet\u2019s stock price. <\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<p>Currently, Metaplanet is down 25% in the last 30 days, and down more than 40% from its yearly highs. At the same time, its key asset, Bitcoin, continues to trade near all-time high levels. Interestingly, Strategy is also under similar pressures, down 25% from its yearly highs. <\/p>\n<p>Purchases of BTC through debt effectively make a stock leveraged bet on the underlying asset. For this reason, stocks like Metaplanet and Strategy are inherently more volatile than Bitcoin.
