{"id":5450,"date":"2025-07-22T17:15:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T17:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bitunikey.com\/news\/pnc-bank-taps-coinbase-to-bring-crypto-to-clients\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T17:15:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T17:15:21","slug":"pnc-bank-taps-coinbase-to-bring-crypto-to-clients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitunikey.com\/news\/pnc-bank-taps-coinbase-to-bring-crypto-to-clients\/","title":{"rendered":"PNC Bank taps Coinbase to bring crypto to clients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-detail__content blocks\">\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">PNC Bank, one of the largest lenders in the U.S. and a member of The PNC Financial Services Group, is partnering with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to bring digital assets and related solutions to its clients.<\/p>\n<p>PNC Bank has <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pnc.mediaroom.com\/2025-07-22-PNC-Bank,-Coinbase-Announce-Strategic-Partnership-to-Advance-Digital-Asset-Solutions-and-Expand-Banking-Services\" target=\"_blank\">entered<\/a> a strategic partnership with Coinbase in a move that will enable the banking provider offer Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies to its customers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The digital asset solutions will also be available to PNC\u2019s banking clients as well as institutional investors, with Coinbase providing a crypto-as-a-service solution aimed at allowing PNC customers to buy, sell and hold crypto with their bank accounts.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Customers of one of the largest banks in the US wanted easier access to crypto.<\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;ve partnered with them to make it happen. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PNCBank?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">@PNCBank<\/a> clients will soon be able to buy, sell and hold crypto. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/m801TSXevn\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/m801TSXevn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Coinbase \ud83d\udee1\ufe0f (@coinbase) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coinbase\/status\/1947672521555255427?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">July 22, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>PNC will also offer banking services to Coinbase, a move that aligns with recent developments across the U.S. In particular, banking regulators have recently moved to clarify banks\u2018 involvement in the crypto space.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cPartnering with Coinbase accelerates our ability to bring innovative, crypto financial solutions to our clients,\u201d said William S. Demchak, chairman and chief executive officer of PNC. \u201cThis collaboration enables us to meet growing demand for secure and streamlined access to digital assets on PNC\u2019s trusted platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Banks in the crypto space<\/h2>\n<p>The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said in April that OCC-regulated banks could now\u00a0 buy and sell crypto assets, as well as offer custody and \u201coutsource bank-permissible crypto-asset activities.\u201d The regulator expounded on this in May, with the shift in approach quickly cementing under the pro-crypto administration of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>A recent statement from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the OCC reiterated banks\u2019 engagement in crypto activities, particularly crypto custody.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PNC\u2019s foray into the crypto space sees it join banking giants such as JPMorgan and Bank of America, among others.
