{"id":4986,"date":"2025-07-04T09:05:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T09:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bitunikey.com\/news\/japans-minna-bank-teams-up-with-fireblocks-and-solana-japan-to-explore-stablecoins\/"},"modified":"2025-07-04T09:05:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T09:05:14","slug":"japans-minna-bank-teams-up-with-fireblocks-and-solana-japan-to-explore-stablecoins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitunikey.com\/news\/japans-minna-bank-teams-up-with-fireblocks-and-solana-japan-to-explore-stablecoins\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan\u2019s Minna Bank teams up with Fireblocks and Solana Japan to explore stablecoins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-detail__content blocks\">\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">Japanese digital bank Minna is reportedly exploring the use of stablecoins and Web3 wallets for real-world payments.<\/p>\n<p>According to a July 4 X post from digital asset infrastructure company Fireblocks, the bank is collaborating with Fireblocks, Solana Japan, and Japanese tech firm TIS on a joint study assessing the viability of stablecoins in everyday financial services.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Japan\u2019s first digital bank is taking the next step in real-world crypto adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Minna Bank (&#8220;Minna no Ginko&#8221;) is launching a joint study with Fireblocks, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SolanaJapan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">@SolanaJapan<\/a>, and TIS Inc to explore stablecoins and Web3 wallets for everyday payments. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/codSZ58Wrd\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/codSZ58Wrd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Fireblocks (@FireblocksHQ) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FireblocksHQ\/status\/1940960665902227951?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">July 4, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In a statement <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/328372\/japans-minna-bank-stablecoins-solana-fireblocks-study\" target=\"_blank\">shared<\/a> with Decrypt, bank officials have also disclosed plans to run tests around the feasibility of issuing stablecoins via Solana and evaluate how Web3 wallets can support user-friendly financial experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s banking sector is placing \u201ca bigger and heavier emphasis\u201d on areas like corporate finance and international trade, Fireblocks Chief Strategy Officer Stephen Richardson explained in a separate statement to the publisher.<\/p>\n<p>Richardson said Japan has \u201ca lot of trade,\u201d and that it is made \u201cmore effective by the easy and efficient movement of money,\u201d pointing to stablecoins as a potential way to streamline existing processes that are usually limited by traditional banking rails.<\/p>\n<p>All across the globe, stablecoins are gaining traction as governments and financial institutions explore their use in payments, settlements, and trade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<p>In China, companies such as JD.com and Ant Group are reportedly lobbying the People\u2019s Bank of China to authorise offshore yuan-backed stablecoins. Both firms have also announced plans to issue Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoins, in line with the city\u2019s incoming regulatory framework set to take effect on August 1.<\/p>\n<p>Across Europe, stablecoins already play a significant role in crypto payments. A June report from Oobit showed that more than 75% of crypto transactions on its platform involved stablecoins, with retail and travel spending leading adoption in countries like Poland, Lithuania, and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>South Korean banks have also entered the sector, launching stablecoin initiatives through regulated channels, while in the United States, lawmakers have been pushing to finalize a federal regulatory framework as dollar-backed stablecoins continue to dominate global usage.<\/p>\n<p>Japan, which has recently fast-tracked efforts to regulate its cryptocurrency sector, has already seen major financial institutions begin developing stablecoin solutions of their own.<\/p>\n<p>Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, the country\u2019s second-largest banking group, is also preparing to trial a stablecoin in partnership with Avalanche developer Ava Labs, alongside Fireblocks and TIS.<\/p>\n<p>According to an April report from Nikkei, SMBC\u2019s pilot is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026, with full issuance planned later that year.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese digital bank Minna is reportedly exploring the use of stablecoins and Web3 wallets for real-world payments.
