The rejected research proposal now places that process under closer review.<\/p>\n<p>Some users argued that decentralized governance means leaders must accept votes even when they disagree with the outcome. Hoskinson pushed back, saying the issue was larger than a personal concern and touched the core of Cardano\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote that the matter \u201cdoesn\u2019t have anything to do with me\u201d and said it concerns \u201cdestroying the entire core of our ecosystem.\u201d He added that \u201cCardano is the science coin,\u201d pointing to the network\u2019s long-running research-based brand.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Research remains central to Cardano\u2019s brand<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Cardano\u2019s official website <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cardano.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">describes<\/a> the network as a proof-of-stake blockchain founded on peer-reviewed research and evidence-based development. It also says Cardano was the first blockchain platform built through peer-reviewed research.<\/p>\n<p>That background explains why the funding dispute has drawn attention. Cardano has long used its academic model to separate itself from faster-moving blockchain rivals. A major cut to research funding would raise questions about how the network protects that model through community voting.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardano Foundation also <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cardanofoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">says<\/a> it supports developers, institutions, businesses, regulators, and policymakers through its ecosystem work. Its website lists developer support, education, and community resources among its main activities.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ADA pressure adds to the debate<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The governance fight comes as Cardano\u2019s market position remains under pressure. ADA traded near $0.25 at press time, down about 60% over the past 200 days, according to crypto.news price data. Midnight is tied to Cardano\u2019s wider development plan and privacy-focused infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The vote now adds a governance layer to that market story. Hoskinson has asked ADA holders to delegate to representatives who support Cardano\u2019s long-term research agenda.
