Now, the company is accelerating that strategy with the acquisition of The Clearing Company, a startup led by founder Toni Gemayel and staffed by what Coinbase calls \u201cprediction market veterans.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"cn-block-summary-block_ee7bb5459b2cb4baff111a624f7867de\" class=\"cn-block-summary\">\n<div class=\"cn-block-summary__nav tabs\">\n        <span class=\"tabs__item is-selected\">Summary<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n<div class=\"cn-block-summary__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coinbase is deepening its push to become a one-stop trading platform by acquiring prediction markets startup The Clearing Company.<\/li>\n<li>The deal comes just days after the rollout of event-based trading to users. <\/li>\n<li>The move positions Coinbase to capitalize on growing demand for platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, allowing users to trade on real-world outcomes alongside crypto, stocks, and derivatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- .cn-block-summary --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we\u2019re building on that momentum by acquiring The Clearing Company, a startup with a strong vision for the future of prediction markets,\u201d Max Branzburg, Head of Consumer &amp; Business Products at Coinbase, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/blog\/Coinbase-to-acquire-The-Clearing-Company-Powering-the-future-of-prediction-markets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote<\/a> in a blog post.<\/p>\n<p>Terms of the deal were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Coinbase said Gemayel and his team will help scale prediction markets trading on the platform and advance its broader ambition to build the so-called \u201cEverything Exchange\u201d \u2014 a unified venue where users can trade across asset classes, from cash and crypto to equities, derivatives, and event contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Prediction markets allow traders to speculate on outcomes tied to elections, economic data, sports, and cultural events. Coinbase sees the category as a natural extension of its platform, particularly as it seeks to offer regulated access through a familiar trading experience.<\/p>\n<p>The company said combining regulated market infrastructure with event-contract expertise will allow prediction markets to expand over time as part of Coinbase\u2019s broader trading ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>This is just the latest in a string of deals for Coinbase.
