He rejected the exchange\u2019s \u201cnon-disparagement\u201d clause, telling MEXC he would \u201calways reserve the right to call you out publicly if this is all just smoke and mirrors.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">White Whale calls Proof of Reserves \u201cmeaningless\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>The first issue The White Whale raised concerned MEXC\u2019s \u201cProof of Reserves\u201d system. He explained that publishing wallet addresses showing assets held means nothing without an independently verified list of liabilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery user balance is a liability to the exchange \u2013 and publishing only the assets without an independently verified list of liabilities is 100% meaningless. The White Whale urged MEXC to stop seizing user funds. \u201cIf you suspect illegal activity, turn it over to law enforcement. Otherwise, give people their money back,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exchange wipes user transaction history after seizure<\/h2>\n<p>A user reached out to The White Whale with evidence of a $4,000 fund seizure. MEXC cited Risk Control Guidelines that include language like \u201csuspected,\u201d meaning they can permanently keep funds based on suspicion alone.<\/p>\n<p>After the confiscation, MEXC wiped the user\u2019s transaction history. \u201cThey stole the user\u2019s money. They admitted to it. They offered no specific accusation.
