On Monday, Oct. 6, tens of thousands of Robinhood traders were apparently unable to perform trades on Robinhood apps. Many took to social media to complain. Moreover, according to an online platform, Downdetector, more than 11,000 users <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.com\/status\/robinhood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">reported<\/a> an issue with Robinhood. <\/p>\n<p>Traders immediately shared their <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BitcoinHarr\/status\/1975195056559788382\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">frustration<\/a>, especially as the outage happened at market open. What is more, some traders reported concerns over being unable to close their positions, with at least some traders <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GatorDontPlay2\/status\/1975215488855839163\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">reporting<\/a> direct losses. <\/p>\n<p>So far, it\u2019s unclear what caused the outage. However, the outage coincided with similar issues on platforms like GuruFocus. For this reason, some traders <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SayNoToTrading\/status\/1975212932213674048\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">speculated<\/a> that the cause may be with some of the APIs that Robinhood is using. This explanation is consistent with the fact that users could access the platform, but could not see data or perform trades.  <\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scammers are already exploiting the Robinhood outage<\/h2>\n<p>Other users <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Dogetoshi\/status\/1975199117254304084\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">reported<\/a> that scammers are already jumping on the opportunity. Users reported receiving phishing messages from unknown numbers, warning them of a supposed risk of theft.
