Ahead of the conference, several social media users noted that Dunamu, Upbit\u2019s parent company, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/anna__yoon\/status\/1965071580532506982\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">filed<\/a> for a trademark for the Giwa name and logo. <\/p>\n<p>At the same time, users discovered a countdown timer on the giwa.io website, which is set to run out on September 9. This timing coincides with the start of the Upbit D Conference, likely counting down to the grand reveal at the event.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event, titled \u201cBlockchain, to the Mainstream,\u201d will be held in Seoul. Dunamu secured several high-profile speakers for the event, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.koreatimes.co.kr\/economy\/cryptocurrency\/20250815\/upbit-d-conference-2025-to-chart-blockchains-expanding-influence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">including<\/a> Eric Trump, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, who will be a keynote speaker. However, according to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Cointelegraph\/status\/1965082916284706881\">CoinTelegraph<\/a>, the new network will be a layer 1 chain. What is more, in Korean, Giwa refers to iconic Korean traditional <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/%EA%B8%B0%EC%99%80\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">roof tiles<\/a>, and is likely a nod to interlocking and modular design. <\/p>\n<p>The exchange\u2019s apparent move to create its own blockchain is not the only signal to move beyond crypto trading.
